Can you hail a taxi cab in Ann Arbor and on the University of Michigan campus?
Yes you can.
Is it easy to do? Not always.
Most of the taxi cab business done in the Ann Arbor area is by phone request. So if you see a taxi cab driving down a street in Ann Arbor without any passengers chances are that cab is on the way to pick up a passenger who called. But not always.
You may have to try a few times to find an available taxi cab that will stop for you if you hail them. But the easiest way to find an available taxi without calling a cab on the phone is to go to a near by taxi cab stand.
Available taxi cab drivers will wait at city designated taxi cab stands or in front or near popular bars and restaurants.
The best way to get a taxi cab in Ann Arbor is to call one. And if you are planning on going out on the week-ends during a home football game or if you are planning on staying out until the bars close you may want to bring a list of a few taxi cabs companies, trust me we'll be very busy.
